Moda sits just south of Kadıköy's market district, occupying a small headland that juts into the Sea of Marmara — close enough to walk from the ferry terminal, but distinctly quieter and greener, with a genuinely strong claim to being where Kadıköy's residents themselves go to unwind rather than run errands.
The seafront park and pier
A long, well-kept waterfront park runs along Moda's shore, popular for evening walks, picnics, and simply sitting facing west to watch the sun go down over the water with the European side's skyline in silhouette — a genuinely different, calmer sunset spot than the more crowded viewpoints elsewhere in the city. A small pier extends out into the water at the park's edge, a popular spot to fish or just sit.
Independent café and shop culture
Moda's streets, particularly around Moda Caddesi, hold a dense cluster of independent coffee shops, small bars, secondhand bookshops and vintage clothing stores, with a noticeably young, local crowd rather than a visitor-focused one. It's a good pocket to simply wander without a fixed plan.
The historic Moda tram
A restored heritage tram loops through Kadıköy and out to Moda, more a pleasant, slow way to get a feel for the area than serious transit — worth riding once for the experience rather than relying on for a schedule.

Moda works best as the calmer second half of a Kadıköy day — market streets and food first, then a walk down to Moda's waterfront for a slower coffee or an evening drink as the light fades.
